Hi, Cecelia!
I just finished reading Hershey Herself and I really liked it a lot. as a matter of fact, i stayed up intil about 5AM because I had to finish it. (Zombie today- don’t ask).
When they were doing the tests on Daisy, for the ulcer, I felt scared that she was going to find out that she was pregnant, and that she would sunsequently go back to Slade. I was relieved that it wasn’t the case! Did you consider taking it there?
I would have liked Hershey to give $100 to Josie, after Phoebe was so generous with her.
How did Josie afford her brand-new apartment?
Why do you think Lupe was such a recluse, if she had so much depth to her?
I wondered how realistic it was that preppy, well-dressed Andrea lived at the rundown motel. If they were so well-off before the divorce, could the mom really end up there so fast? Scary…
I loved Mavis and was happy she won. I thought the barbershop quartet would win second prize. I liked the description of Phoebe’s performance; you felt how they deserved to win.
How about a sequel starring Phoebe?

Hi Katen! Thanks so much for writing about Hershey!! It’s so funny that you ask about a sequel starring Phoebe, because my editor and I have talked about that very thing! It would be a lot of fun to do, don’t you think?
And you are a fantastic reader! I was TOTALLY going to make Daisy pregnant when she ended up in the hospital - in fact, that detail was in the first and second draft - but it ended up taking too much of the story away from Hershey and focusing it on Daisy, which I didn’t want to do. Besides, they all had so much to deal with as it was - adding a pregnancy might have imploded the story!
Thanks for writing in - and stay in touch!
